On Wednesday 4 April 2018 Folking Around is proud to present:
Dessie Magee | fb.com/DessieMageeMusic
"Dessie Magee has a groundbreaking ability to move the audience into a state of stillness with his combination of raspy-raw vocals, elegant song-writing skills and an easy to connect stage presence."
Originally from Northern Ireland, Dessie Magee stormed Brighton’s shores with his debonair musical arrangements and raw poetic prowl to break down the stereotypes of modern folk rock. His incomparable blend of Irish charm, vociferously dominating vocals and unfeigned lyricism has brought a truly captivating sound to this genre.
Circe's Diner | circesdiner.com
Dedicated to self-penned, honest, rootsy tunes, the music from the Diner touches base with Country, Americana, Folk and Pop traditions yet the presentation and lyrical content draws inspiration from everyday life through wondrous tales of love, loss, friendship and tigers!
Twisted with the bittersweet, Circe’s Diner blend catchy hooks, infections melodies and dreamy harmonies in a unique way that voices strength, whilst baring one’s deepest vulnerabilities.
These acoustic alchemists will take you on most intoxicating journey that will leave you feeling thoroughly charmed!
Will Whisson Music | soundcloud.com/will-whisson
Will Whisson is a homegrown, organic folk-tinged pop singer / songwriter from the UK. Born in Kent but raised in abroad, he eventually returned to England, deciding to live out of a camper van in order to fully pursue his ambitions of becoming a full-time solo musician and songwriter.
His original songs incorporate the rootsy sounds of artists like John Butler and Tom Petty while his laid-back soft vocal and expressive guitar playing techniques (that include, looping, soloing and percussive playing) are reminiscent of more contemporary artists like John Mayer and Ben Howard.
Calming River | soundcloud.com/calming-river
Delicate and intimate, Danish alt-folk.
Latest EP 'The Ones That We Left Behind' is out now on all major online sites; "For certain, a mesmerizing EP that is one of the most striking works of the genre to be produced this year" — Local Music Scene review.
