7th December

Department of Coffee and Social Affairs

This Christmas, Kingston upon Thames launches the Kingston Children’s Literary Festival and invites children and parents alike to listen to some of their favourite festive and non-festive tales from a line up some of the UK’s best-loved children’s authors in the lead-up to Christmas.

Join Maudie Powell-Tuck for a 30 minute reading from her book, Last Stop on the Reindeer Express.

A magical tale of love and adventure, brought to life by peep-through pages, lift-the-flaps and breath-taking illustrations from Karl James Mountford. Last Stop on the Reindeer Express is a wonderful way to help children articulate their feelings when spending Christmas away from a parent, grandparent or sibling.

Recommended for ages 3-6, this event is completely free of charge. The reading will be held upstairs at Department of Coffee and Social Affairs Kingston. Please note children may be seated on the floor, some soft cushions will be provided.

Children must be accompanied at all times. Please note this event is upstairs without a lift and there is limited space for storing buggies/prams.

The first Department of Coffee and Social Affairs opened in London’s iconic Leather Lane Market in late 2010. It was the culmination of 18 months work spent searching for the perfect shop and perfecting our craft. As we grew, we quickly understood that whilst a good shop and quality coffee were crucial, the key ingredient to success was our people.
